Our world has changed dramatically over the past few years with terrorism, devastating hurricanes and other natural disasters. Even with smaller disasters, we have learned that our communities need to be prepared to respond. This responsibility is more than any one agency can handle alone.
The Dauphin County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) has a goal of preparing before disaster strikes. This will help assure that resources are pooled and organizations are prepared to work together and provide fast and efficient services to our communities when the need arises.

Thank you to the following organizations that have assisted in the creation of the Dauphin County VOAD:

  • CONTACT Helpline
  • Dauphin County Animal Response Team
  • Dauphin County Emergency Management Agency
  • Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency
  • Middletown Area Chapter of the American Red Cross
  • Southern Baptist Diaster Relief
  • Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross
  • The Salvation Army - Harrisburg
  • Volunteer Center - United Way of the Capital Region

Mission Statement

Dauphin County VOAD is a humanitarian association of independent voluntary organizations who may be active in all phases of disaster. Its mission is to foster efficient, streamlined service delivery to individuals affected by disaster, while eliminating unnecessary duplication of effort, through cooperation in the four phases of disaster: preparation, response, recovery and mitigation.
